Our commitment
We want WhatsAEO to be usable for as many people as reasonably possible, including people using assistive technology. We aim towards the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 at AA, and recognise we won’t always get everything right.
What we’ve built in
- Semantic HTML with headings in a sensible order on every page.
- A visible "Skip to content" link at the top of every page.
- A high-contrast colour scheme throughout; interactive elements have visible focus states.
- Text that scales when you zoom; the mobile layout works at common sizes.
- Form fields have proper labels and keyboard access.
- The cookie banner is keyboard-accessible and doesn’t trap focus.
- SVG icons that are decorative are not announced to screen readers.
Things we know aren’t perfect yet
- The dropdown navigation uses a hover + focus pattern; we’d like to add an explicit "expand" button for assistive technology users on desktop.
- Interactive tools (Readiness Check, Checklist, Testing Worksheet) have been built for keyboard access but haven’t yet been reviewed by an independent accessibility auditor.
- The 40-page PDF Playbook is designed to be printable; it isn’t yet tagged for optimal screen reader navigation. We plan to improve this.
How to tell us about a problem
If something on the site is hard to use, broken for a particular assistive technology, or just doesn’t work for you, please email hello@creativesauce.io with a short description. We read every message. If you can include the page URL and the browser or assistive technology you’re using, that helps us fix things faster.
Enforcement
If you aren’t happy with our response, in the UK you can contact the Equality Advisory and Support Service (EASS).
